FILM PERSONAL TRAINING

Sometimes I forget how fortunate I am.

I was going to say lucky, but luck suggests I didn’t work my way to where I am.

Anyone who is successful at what they do will know that the process of getting there isn’t easy and takes serious focus and effort.

One of my favourite quotes is “the harder I work, the luckier I get”

I don’t often take time to reflect on how things are going

But today was one of those days.

I am working on a really exciting film project at the moment, something I know I will be very proud of in 5, 10 even 20 years from now.

I can’t share many details but it is a big Disney remake and the actress I am working with is easily one of my favourite ever clients.

My day at set is a mix of training and support through rehearsals and stunts. It’s a pretty unique experience and something I really enjoy. When shooting starts for us I will be there at their side to help with all things performance related.

A big generalisation I hear from people is that actors and actresses have it easy when it comes to training and eating right.

The truth is although they often have expert support they still have to graft.

I can’t do the sessions for them

Or use my will power so they follow their food plan without deviation.

The film industry is incredibly demanding and it isn’t unusual to be working 12+ hours a day six days a week. On a recent film I worked on, the actor would be with me at 5am to train for an hour, then into hair and makeup for 2 hours. Then to set, where he would stay until 7 or 8pm every night. The shooting was physical and the job was exhausting.

But he didn’t miss a session. He was never too tired.

I work with the top actors in the world and also have trained some top CEO’s. If you look at highest performing people in any industry you will notice a trend. They will do whatever it takes to perform at their best and get the greatest result.

Not only do they work hard but they also have to work smart. When time is so valuable you have to make sure you utilising your time efficiently. They hire the best to help them become the best and will take on board advice to maximise progress.

Often when I do interviews there is a common question – “what do you do to motivate the actors you are working with”

The truth is, motivation isn’t something I have to supply. When the film requires them to achieve something to be a success. With hundreds of people working on it and millions of dollars invested. It’s easy to see what they are so motivated.

To bring all this back to point I wanted to make

If you want to achieve something you will find a way.

I mean, if you REALLY want it, you have no choice, you will get it done.

But I can provide a few tips to make sure you are on the right path

1. Set a goal that really matters to you and give it a deadline
2. Get an experts help, quality advice is cheaper and more readily available than ever before
3. Train with intensity and purpose and make sure all of your training is geared towards your goals
4. Eat for your goals. Your calories and macros NEED to be tailored to your goals, or you will be wasting your time.
5. Keep focussed – What would it mean to you to achieve your dream body? How would you feel? Now go and use this energy to get the job done!
